Infosys bags Corporate Sustainability Stewardship Award


New Delhi: IT major Infosys was announced the winner of the ‘Corporate Sustainability Stewardship’ Award at the 2013 Parivartan Sustainability Leadership Awards. This Award recognizes organizations who have implemented innovative sustainability solutions for efficient energy, waste and water management in their production processes and operations.

In addition, Rohan Parikh, Head of Infrastructure & Green Initiatives at Infosys was declared as a finalist of the ‘Sustainability Trailblazer’ category. The Award recognizes corporate executives who have made exemplary contributions in the field of sustainability in the past year.

The Green Initiatives team is a strategy and R & D team focused on setting global benchmarks in corporate environmental sustainability. Infosys develops three million sq.ft. of high performance green buildings / campus each year and is driving the design of the next generation of high performance smart buildings and campuses for Infosys. In the past, Infosys has received four LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) platinum certifications for its buildings in Jaipur, Mysore, Thiruvananthapuram and Hyderabad.

Rohan is responsible for driving the goals of reducing the per capita energy consumption by 50%, sourcing 100% of the electricity from renewable sources, becoming carbon neutral including transportation related emissions, becoming water neutral, recycling organic waste, preserving and promoting biodiversity and engaging employees in all of the above goals.

The Parivartan Awards were announced at the evening plenary of the Annual Summit of the Sustainable Business Leadership Forum in New Delhi on October 17, 2013.

The Parivartan Sustainability Leadership Awards were instituted by Sustainability Outlook with the vision of identifying, recognizing and celebrating the thought leading, innovative and path breaking sustainability efforts of Indian companies. The Awards have always aimed to recognize and showcase efforts that shape conservation action, innovation and corporate leadership in sustainability.
