Infosys Trivandrum to add 3,500 professionals in two years


Trivandrum: The Infosys’ campus in Thiruvananthapuram (Trinfy) is on an expansion mode and will add another 3,500 professionals in the next two years. A new building, the Software Development Centre Block III (SDC III) with a capacity of 3,500 seats is getting ready and this will be operational by April 2014. This was disclosed by Sunil Jose, Centre Head of Infosys Trivandrum, while interacting with Kerala IT News today.

“We are looking at adding about 5,000 to 7,000 people in the next five years, subject to market conditions and our business growth. Meanwhile, a multi-level vehicle parking facility which can accomodate 2,000 cars and about 2,000 two wheelers, and the second food court in the Trinfy campus is also getting ready and would be operational later this year. Infosys has also got approval for a 6,500 seater building and the construction of this centre (SDC IV) would commence later”, he added.

Infosys, which completed ten year in Trivandrum in December 2013, has been growing at 30-40% and has added 3,000 employees in the last three years. Infosys Trivandrum, which started with 100 people, now has about 4,700 professionals with 3,200 in its own campus and 1,500 at the Technopark main campus (STPI), where it currently occupies space in Bhawani and Thejaswani buildings. These employees would gradually move to their own campus once the new buildings are ready.

Infosys Thiruvananthapuram campus has a built-up area of 6,18,201 sq. ft. that can accommodate 4,643 seats and work is currently in progress for adding another 21,39,267 sq. ft. which can accommodate 8,479 seats.

Sunil also said that Infosys Trivandrum is the fastest growing centre, both in terms of revenue and people, among the five small development centres of Infosys spread across the country – Mangalore, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar and Chandigarh being the other four. The Trinfy campus is located on 50 acres of land at Technopark Phase II (SEZ). The company has also acquired another 50 acres in the proposed Technocity project area.

The campus has several CSR initiatives including some employee driven activities led by Sanjivini, the employees club. Several sports events, music bands and team events are conducted regularly by the employees.

As per the third quarter (Q3) results for the 2013-14 fiscal, Infosys has 1,58,404 employees servicing 888 clients with top 10 clients contributing 23.5% of revenues.
