Infopark Kochi Phase II expansion gets a major boost


Kochi: The second phase of Infopark Kochi got a major fillip with six more companies inking deal to develop IT campuses in the 160-acre project. This was the key outcome of an Investors Meet organised by Infopark in Kochi today.

Evaluating the progress of Infopark Phase II, Minister for IT & Industries, Shri P K Kunhalikutty said, “Infopark, so far, has successfully achieved all the key targets both in terms of employment and IT space.” Expressing satisfaction over the progress of the ambitious Rs. 2,500 crore project, he added the State government along with the local bodies will actively support Infopark and the development of related infrastructure facilities.

The companies that struck deal with Infopark were UST Global, Trans Asia, Claysys Technologies, Syscon group, Brigade Enterprises and Media Systems.

Ferston Infratel and Abad Builders, jointly proposed to develop IT infrastructure. Cognizant has already taken 15 acres in Phase II for developing their campus; the first phase of their campus will be ready for operations this year.

Hrishikesh Nair, CEO of Infopark said, “We have already initiated necessary steps to ensure solid growth in financial year 2014-15. Our target is to double the built-up area to 6 million square feet by 2015. Also, Infopark is expecting the export revenue to cross Rs. 2,000 crore during this financial year”.

The park expects to generate over 10,000 additional jobs during financial year 2014-15. The Phase II will have all the amenities of an ultra-modern IT park with common internal roads, 220 KV Gas Insulated Sub Station, storm water drains, cable trenches, data connectivity as well as water treatment and supply.

In Phase I, works on the TCS campus and Brigade campus are also progressing well. The TCS campus will be completed by the second quarter of this year while the first phase of the Brigade campus will be ready for operation by the first quarter of 2015.

Later, the Minister inaugurated the installation of security cameras at the campus to enhance employee safety. Thrikkakkara MLA, Shri Benny Behanan and Kunnathunad MLA, Shri V P Sajeendran were among those present on the occasion.
