Digital Victory Stand to add colour to 35th National Games

Trivandrum: The winners of the various events in the 35th National Games to be held in Kerala will be presented medals on a Digital Victory Stand. A prototype of the Digital Victory Stand was unveiled today by the Minister for Sports, Shri Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan at the Chandrashekaran Nair Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram today.

In his remarks, the Minister said that this is probably for the first time that a Digital Victory Stand is being used for an event of the Indian Olympic Association. “This is yet another example of using the latest technology available for the best conduct of the National Games in Kerala”, he added.

Soorya Krishnamoorthy, Chairman of the Cultural & Medal Presentation Committee, has conceptualised the idea and developed the prototype of the Digital Victory Stand. Explaining the features, he said during the medal presentation ceremony, the Digital Victory Stand would display visuals representing the winner’s State along with background music. The National Games theme music and visuals would be played before the ceremony and the National Anthem at the end. He also added that the patent for the Digital Stand will remain with the National Games Organising Committee.

The Digital Victory Stand will be used for presenting medals for individual events only. It will also be used to display advertisements or announcements during events. A demonstration of the Stand was held for the media.

Meanwhile, the organising committee has announced that the official Facebook page for the forthcoming National Games has received more than 50,000 likes in less than two months of its launch. A good number of people from outside Kerala have also liked the page.

Launched on June 26, the page brings daily news and updates about developments from the National Games Organising Committee and the progress of the preparation for the event besides sports news in general.
