Kozhikode CAFIT Square all set to make a mark on Kerala IT map


Kozhikode: Chief Minister, Shri Oommen Chandy will formally inaugurate the CAFIT Square, a mini IT Park by a self-funded independent technology movement, the Calicut Forum for IT (CAFIT) in Kozhikode on September 20, 2014. Minister for Social Welfare & Panchayat, Dr. M K Muneer will preside over the function.

CAFIT Square is situated at the Hi-Lite Business Park on the Bypass road and is looked upon as a progressive approach in Information Technology development and gets attracted by industry all over. CAFIT has been able to influence today’s technology scenario of Kozhikode a lot, from its progressive approach.

According to M T Ramakrishnan, CEO of CAFIT, the Calicut Forum for Information Technology has its main focus on bringing a conducive ecosystem for technology entrepreneurship in the Malabar region of Kerala. CAFIT directs a great deal of attention to the growth of regional SMEs and contribute to the technology entrepreneurship in this region.

Charles Thomas, President of CAFIT said, “There are 12 companies in CAFIT Square. Seven companies have started their operations since June 2014. Four others are expected to complete the interior works and begin operations in next one month. The Companies opened already has been able to generate employment to Calicut Techies. CAFIT Square is expected to generate employment for more than 500 Engineers immediately. Also enterprises in Kozhikode can be assured of world class software packages and services from CAFIT Square.”

Established in the year 2008, CAFIT is a not-for-profit organization and came in to existence with the aim to grow by developing an infrastructure for technology growth in the region and support introduction of new trends and knowledge among the members companies. CAFIT is able to use its collective experience to act as an advisory body to enable its member companies to drive their enterprises with greater operational efficiency and guide them to achieve the business objectives.

“CAFIT has been striving to change a conservative Malabar to a Technology hub by upholding its traditional values. Today CAFIT can loudly say it involved profoundly in bringing technology attention to Kozhikode. The introduction of the SME tech park of CAFIT, the CAFIT Square is the result of its hard work”, added Charles.
