National Games website gets an upgrade & ready for launch


Trivandrum:, the new multi-purpose portal that has been live for the past two months, will be officially launched with the inauguration of the online registration of the Games Facilitators later this month. About 10,000 volunteers are expected to register through the portal for selection to be part of the Games workforce.

The upgraded National Games website will be the hub that hosts various online IT modules of the Games management system besides being the depository of much of the static and dynamic information and news of and around the Games.

The online accreditation of various participants to the Games, including athletes, managers, technical officials and members of Sports Federations and Indian Olympic Association will be launched in November. Accreditation data of 25,000 to 30,000 participants will be entered, approved and updated online. Media representatives from across the country will also have to accredit themselves through the website.

Event results and scorecards, rankings, medal tallies, standings, etc. are to be updated dynamically on the site during the progress of the Games. will have an integrated ‘Push’ and ‘Pull’ SMS facility for forwarding SMS alerts both on demand (pull) and on prescribed schedules (push) to participants as well as anybody else who has registered for the service. Portal shall also support bulk information dissemination (daily schedules, daily results etc.) through SMS (push mechanism) to registered numbers. The contact details of participants received during online accreditation shall be used to push information relevant to them, through SMS, at regular intervals.

The portal today carries relevant information on all aspects of the Games, such as competition venues including maps, sports, schedules, history, medals tables, the organisation behind the 35th Games and status reports on progress of construction works and financial statements. The News section carries regular updates on important developments relating to the Games, as well as copies of press releases and media clippings.

Content on the site also includes details of Kerala sports heroes and legends who have won prestigious awards or represented India at the Olympics. A separate section similarly covers the current Indian stars who have been winning medals for India in select global competitions.

The Games’ ICT partner, CMC Ltd., has developed the site and content for the site is generated by the Portal team of NGOC.
