Kerala’s IT growth grabs attention at CeBIT India

Bangalore: Kerala’s abundant talent pool, world class IT infrastructure and low operational costs became the eye-catcher at the ongoing CeBIT India in Bangalore.

Hrishikesh Nair, CEO of Infopark, Kochi made a detailed presentation on the IT investment opportunities in the State in front of 10,000-odd participants of the expo which began today.

Highlighting Kerala as an emerging IT investment destination in the country at a special session, Hrishikesh invited industry leaders to partner with the State in further developing the IT infrastructure facilities here. “Apart from having highly-skilled workforce, the State has developed state-of-the-art IT infrastructure to cater to the needs of the IT companies from across the world. We have many more projects in hand including the Rs-2,500 crore second phase of Infopark,” he said during the presentation.

Karnataka Chief Minister, Shri Siddaramaiah; Dr. Andreas Gruchow, Member of Board, Deutsche Messe AG; Mehul Shah, MD, HMFI; Dr. Vishal Sikka, CEO, Infosys; Dr Prashant Pradhan, Director, IBM India; Marten Pieters, CEO, Vodafone India; and Vanitha Narayanan, MD, IBM India were some of the dignitaries present on the occasion.

The Kerala pavilion at CeBIT was inaugurated by Shri S R Patil, Minister for IT, BT, Science & Technology and Planning & Statistics, Government of Karnataka.

Apart from Hrishikesh, the Kerala IT was represented by K Girish Babu, CEO of Technopark, Trivandrum; Ajith Kumar, CEO of Cyberpark, Kozhikode; and S Ramnath, MD of Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Limited (KSITIL).

The Bangalore event is the maiden Indian edition of CeBIT, which is touted as the world’s largest mega B2B professional IT trade fair. The event is a platform for all major IT and ITES companies from across the world to showcase their innovations, products and services. Nearly 30,000 buyers, both international and domestic, are attending the event.

The central theme of CeBIT India ‘New Perspectives in IT Business’ covers the trends that are shaping up the IT industry today, including social media, big data and cloud.
