Trivandrum: The Kerala State IT Mission (KSITM) has won the prestigious ‘CSI Nihilent e-Governance Awards 2013-14’ for Kerala State, under the State category, in the 12th year of recognizing the best e-Governance initiatives across the country.
The ‘Award of Excellence – State Category’ is a prestigious award, which recognizes Indian States for their exemplary performance in the field of e-Governance. Kerala is among those specially invited States to submit nomination under this category.
The awards will be presented on December 13, 2014 at Hyderabad as part of 49th Annual Convention of Computer Society of India (CSI-2014).
In a statement, K Mohammed Y Safirulla, Director of KSITM said, “This is one of the most prestigious awards for Kerala at the National level where each State will be compared with the other for the e-governance initiatives implemented successfully. Kerala has won this award through Kerala State IT Mission for its e-governance initiatives.”
Key projects of KSITM – e-District, which ensures hassle free services to the common man through Citizen Service Centre (Akshaya) across the State with a nominal fee; e-Procurement project, an initiative where the tender process were made easy and time bound manner, implemented across the departments; UIDAI, another project where 97% enrolment was completed for the State and seeding process is on high pace for various departments and various other projects were also taken into account for the final review.
The CSI-Nihilent e-Governance awards were instituted way back at the beginning of the current millennium with three major objectives – To be an independent focal point for the assessment of e-Governance initiatives in the country, To take the lead in recording appreciation of the vision and the effort of various levels of Government officials in bringing e-Governance initiatives to fruition against difficult odds, and To act as a repository and to provide a channel for e-Governance champions of the Country to share their knowledge with interested stakeholders in the Country and abroad.
In keeping with the vision of the founders of the Special Interest Group on e-Governance of the Computer Society of India, the awards have acquired unparalleled levels of respectability and repute. Pioneers of e-Governance in the Country have been at the helm of the awards.
