Visionics 1st company in Technopark to celebrate 20th anniversary


Trivandrum: Visionics India has become the first company to complete 20 years of its operations in Technopark, Trivandrum. Visionics India, a joint venture by Norlinvest, Sweden, and Alpha-Imager, Bangalore, was one of the first companies to start operations at the IT park in the capital city.

It was on February 14, 1995, that Visionics started its Indian operations at the Periyar building in Technopark campus. The 20th Anniversary celebrations were held today at the Technopark Club.

In his address, G Vijaya Raghavan, Member, Kerala State Planning Board & also founder CEO of Technopark said that Visionics completing two decades in Technopark is a milestone for the IT industry in Kerala. “The fact that a Swedish company from Singapore with an Indian partner in Bangalore with couple of Europeans at its helm found it apt to set up base in Thiruvananthapuram is a testimony of their confidence in us. In fact they were the first expats working in Technopark.”

He also added that working with intellectual property in a niche area like software for the electronics industry offers a lot of potential for the company because of the Make in India initiative.

M Thiyagarajan, Managing Director of Visionics India said, “It has been a long and fulfilling journey for the company as we complete two decades here in spite of the fact that there were lot of challenges and hurdles. The abundance of skilled manpower and the infrastructure offered were key factors which helped us during these years. Our mission in India is to bridge the gap between education and the industry, and in developing the skills required for the hardware industry.”

While offering his felicitations, M Vasudevan, Sr. Manager (BD), Technopark commented that Visionincs was the first Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Technopark, Trivandrum

EDWinXP, a printed circuit board (PCB) designing and Simulation Programme with Integrated Circuit Emphasis (SPICE) based software; DocOne and EDComX, are some of the product of Visionics. The latest version of EDWinXP (v1.95) was launched to commemorate the 20th anniversary celebrations.


Apart from Trivandrum, the company also has development centres in Sweden, Estonia, Philippines and Japan. The Trivandrum centre also focuses on R&D, marketing and sales for Asia-Pacific region, and technical support and training to customers across the world.
