Kochi : Ola, a leading mobile app for personal transportation, has announced the launch of its service in Kochi. Ola plans to elevate in-city transportation in the city to global standards through its technology platform. By using the Ola app, commuters in the city would be able to book a cab from the comfort of their home and track the location of the cab in real-time, till it reaches them.
Customers shall get details like the driver’s name & phone number once the booking is done. The user can also share a link over SMS with friends and family for them to track the location of their cab in real-time. Ola’s technology platform promises unrivalled safety and transparency in transportation by only working with licensed and verified drivers in Kochi. The Ola app currently has over 100,000 vehicles available across 100 cities, making it the largest as well as the fastest growing cab booking app in India.
Anand Subramanian, Director – Marketing Communications at Ola said, “We are thrilled to launch Ola in Kochi. The convenience and reliability the Ola app offers is unparalleled in the personal transportation space. Being the State’s trade capital, Kochi needs to have multiple smart travel options and we at Ola aim to solve this by giving people better cabs, better service, and at a better value. Keeping in mind the rapid growth of the city, we are launching with 500 cabs on the platform and plan take it to 1,200 within 6 months. Ola is betting big in Kerala and plans to announce services in Trivandrum soon.”
Ola’s focus over the next 1 year is to create an eco-system to nurture micro-entrepreneurship among drivers in existing as well as new cities. For this purpose, Ola has tied up with car manufacturers like Tata, Ford, Mahindra, Maruti and Nissan across cities to help drivers buy cars from them directly at discounts of up to Rs. 1,00,000.
Ola has also earmarked a $ 20 mn fund for safety and security initiatives for users of the Ola app. Apart from a host of security features like live GPS tracking, continuous driver verification & training, Ola has recently introduced an SOS button in the App.
