Chief Minister dedicates Infopark’s Phase II campus to the State


Kochi: Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri Oommen Chandy today dedicated Infopark’s Phase II campus to the State, saying that the government was committed to bringing in more investments for creating job opportunities for the youth.

“The government will give more thrust to projects which are capable of utilizing the full potential of the State’s resources both in terms of infrastructure and manpower”, CM said.

Minister for IT & Industries, Shri P K Kunhalikutty said that Infopark and the private IT companies here have emerged as one of the biggest employment generators of the State. “The government is ready to provide all support to the development of IT parks.”

Minister for Fisheries, Ports & Excise, Shri K Babu noted that the Infopark has undertaken a number of mini-projects for the benefit of the local community including 1km road along Kunnathunad-Puthencruz villages, 1.1 km panchayat road, land for Anganwadi and foot-over bridge to the banks of Kadambrayar river.

Minister for Public Works, Shri V K Ebrahim Kunju said that the PWD has finished the tendering process for the renovation of roads leading to Infopark and will soon start works on it.

The Rs. 2,500-crore Phase II project will be completed by 2020 and around 80,000 employment opportunities will be created by then. Over one million IT work space with futuristic amenities will be opened for business by the end of 2015 with the completion of Infopark’s own 4 lakh sq. ft. IT building and Cognizant’s Phase I building of 1.3 million sq. ft. Once fully operational, the project is expected create 8 million sq. ft. world-class IT space.

Around 60 per cent of the land in the second phase has been leased out successfully to IT/ITeS companies and co-developers. The Phase II is spread across 160 acres of land, of which Infopark has leased out 125 acres till now. Out of this, 102 acres is notified as IT Special Economic Zone.

Unlike Phase I, the Phase II campus is designed as a walk–to-work township with several facilities to complement the mainstream business. Apart from the IT/ITES infrastructure, the campus will house an international school, shopping mall, hotel, convention centres, and health care facilities.
