SBT to empower its customers to become more tech savvy


Trivandrum: In an effort to empower their customers through technology awareness, the State Bank of Travancore (SBT) has announced the launch of Tech Learning Centres (TLCs). This new initiative is being launched at all Regional offices across the country at 64 branches on the 3rd Friday of every month from 3 to 5 pm.

Customers will be intimated well in advance about the different venues every month. The session will be interactive in nature to address customer’s specific questions and requirements, besides creating awareness on the Bank’s current technology initiatives. Going forward, these workshops will be in addition to the guidance on tech services being provided to the customers through product brochures, information on website & interaction with customer helpline or frontline staff at branches. In the TLC session the customers will be explained features of various alternate channels, shown live demos and will also be told about the security aspects of each channel.

Elaborating on the initiative, V P Ravindra Kumar, General Manager (IT), SBT said that although the transactions through alternate channels are growing, there is vast potential for more customers to adopt to these channels confidently. “Learning and interaction can only remove the inhibitions and take maximum advantage of the tech savvy services offered by the Bank. SBT is committed to offering the latest technology based solutions to its customers on an ongoing basis.”

The Bank has 1,611 ATMs PAN India, while the benefit of over 52,000 ATMs of the Group is also available to its customers, besides Cash Deposit Machines. Cash Recyclers are planned for rollout shortly which would accept and dispense cash and benefit all types of customers. Branches are provided with Green Channel Counters for paperless transactions. The online Internet Banking portal (sbtonline) of the Bank and the mobile applications are constantly upgraded to include more value added services.

The Bank has appealed to the customers to make the best use of TLCs to enjoy banking in a safe, convenient and 24×7 environment.
