Kochi: Kerala’s Startup Village will host one of the biggest hackathon events, ‘AngelHack’ on June 6 & 7, 2015, where software developers and designers will put their heads together to create new tools or softwares for specific platforms.
So far, around 260 people have registered for the AngelHack to be held at the Startup Village in Kalamassery, Kochi. Startup Village is hosting the event for the second time now.
The winners of the hackathon competition will get a chance to enter AngelHack’s ‘HACKcelerator’ programme and showcase their work in Silicon Valley.
A hackathon is a marathon brainstorming session where developers will write codes for building web or mobile applications in various platforms. The global event aims to bridge the gap between international technology community and the Silicon Valley through the hackathon series held in major cities across the globe.
Kochi is one of the five Indian cities selected for the annual event, others being Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad.
Last year, CAT Entertainments, a startup firm from the Startup Village created the video which was the winner of the ‘World’s Best Video’ contest of the global hackathon’s Spring 2014 Community Competition. The SV community received a developer version of the virtual reality headset from Oculus Rift, a start-up acquired by Facebook last year for $2 billion, as the award.
