Kerala plans week long celebration for Digital India launch


Trivandrum: As part of the launch of the ambitious ‘Digital India’ programme, a programme to transform India into a digitally empowered society and a knowledge economy, by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on July 01, 2015, a week-long celebration is being organized in Kerala too on a large scale from July 01 to 07 at all District Headquarters.

The nationwide launch will be webcast live at the Institute of Management in Government in Thiruvananthapuram on July 01, 2015 from 3 pm onwards, which will be followed by a panel discussion on our e-Governance initiatives and a talk on the transformations in technology.

A full day seminar on Digital India will be held at the same venue on July 06, 2015 which will be inaugurated by the Minister for Industries & IT, Shri P K Kunhalikutty. He will also launch a bunch of e-Governance initiatives of Kerala which includes e-KYC for Aadhaar Project, Citizen Portal for e-Office Project, and e-Learning Portal.

According to a press note from the Kerala State IT Mission, various seminars and panel discussions will be held at all the 14 Districts across the State as part of the Digital India week celebration, from July 02-07, 2015, which will be attended by dignitaries from various spheres. Apart from these activities, Quiz for college & High School students, Digital photography competition, Digital Painting competition, Web designing competition, online blog writing etc. are also being organised at the District level.

With the launch of Digital India programme, the Government of India is taking a big step forward to transform the country into a digitally empowered nation. The Prime Minister is expected to launch the logo of the programme and also unveil various schemes like Digital Locker, e-education, e-health, etc. The Department of Communications and IT is the nodal agency to implement the programme.
