Kochi: Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) is hosting Start-O-Sphere, a two-day global entrepreneurship summit on September 12-13, 2015. The summit will provide aspiring entrepreneurs and early stage startups with funding, mentoring and networking access. Through this initiative, IIMK endeavours to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship among young professionals and promises to provide a strong support system.
The two-day event will feature keynote addresses by Pranav Kumar Suresh, CEO, Start-up Village and L Radhakrishnan, Chairman, Kerala State Innovation Council. Murugavel Janakiraman, CEO, Bharat Matrimony; Hari Nair, CEO, Holiday IQ; Sheeba D’Mello, Head – Research & Investment Advisory, IDG Ventures; and Gagan Arora, ex-CEO, Printvenue.com are among the many distinguished guests expected at the summit.
As part of the summit, several events would be conducted for the participating entrepreneurs. Start-ups will be rated by a panel of investors and mentors. Out of expected 300+ registered start-ups, the top 100 shall be given exhibit stalls during the event at IIM Kozhikode campus. 20 finalists will be chosen to make a 10 minute pitch which is supported by NASSCOM to investors. Start-ups in validation and scaling phase shall pitch their ventures to attract funds from angel investors, venture capitalists, and also attract students and start up enthusiasts for hiring opportunity.
Prospective investors are from Chennai Angel Network, Mumbai Angel Network, Hyderbad Angel Network, Indian Angel Network, 3i Group, ah!Ventures, Kuruvindum and others.
More than 30 experts including CXOs, top professionals, VCs, industry stalwarts and seasoned professionals shall advise aspiring entrepreneurs on initial funding, scaling, marketing, critical skills like team building, creating and delivering value, consumer behaviour and market trends.
Workshops will be conducted by renowned industry bigwigs, IIM professors, and successful start-up champions who will provide budding entrepreneurs with the necessary tools and frameworks to make their job easier.
Aspiring entrepreneurs will also get the opportunity to give voice to their opinions and be heard by the who’s who of the business world.
The partners for the summit include NASSCOM 10,000 startups, Startup Village, Ginserv, TiE Kerala, ah!Ventures, Zinnov, Dreamwallets.com, Villgro and FHS Accelerator. Start-O-Sphere is expected to have around 2,500 participants facilitated, moderated and catalysed by IIMK students.
