As part of its efforts to accelerate the growth of IT in Kerala and recognize the State’s emergence as a prominent IT destination, Confederation of Indian Industry, Kerala State Council is organizing – India IT Summit 2009, the first ever major IT event to be held in Kerala from December 10-11, 2009 in Trivandrum.
The India IT Summit is planned as an annual event where key influencers globally would be invited to deliberate and discuss issues pertaining to the IT industry. The theme and focus for the event is ‘Changing Role of India in Global IT Business’ and would consist of 3 plenary sessions spread over two days with a networking dinner after the first day. Speaking about the Summit Mr Sanjaya Mariwala, Chairman CII Kerala State Council said that “The role of IT in business is fast changing – from that of support to transformation. In fact, IT is set to become a game changer that will help India evolve from the status of ‘low cost’ to ‘innovation’. IT is indeed redefining the way people do business. As a result, the role of the Indian IT industry is set to evolve into a high value business facilitator. “
VK Mathews, Convener, CII State IT Panel and Chairman, IBS Group, said “ World is expecting Indian IT industry to contribute differently in the next 10 years as compared to the last 10 years. We need to manage this expectation by preparing for the change. India IT Summit 2009 is the first major event to be held to discuss the changing role of India in the global IT business, and holding such a big event in Kerala gives a major advantage to Kerala’s IT Industry.”
