Major Achievements

♦ Thejaswani largest ever building till 2008 (8.5 lakh sq. ft.) completed and fully sold out
♦ The new largest ever IT building in Kerala (10 lakh sq. ft building for approx. Rs 200 crores) started
♦ New Technopark at Kollam started within 6 months of land allotment. All works in good progress. The park will be made operational before March 2011.
♦ Infosys campus building 1.5 lakh sq. ft. completed and work starting for their Phase II
♦ Buildings of TCS Global Learning, Tata Elxsi Phase-I, Amstor expansion, M Squared, Padmanabham, inaugurated
♦ IBS building of 2 lakh sq. ft. inaugurated. Second building under construction.
♦ Leela Building 6.5 lakh sq. ft. completed
♦ Sub-station work for Technopark Phase II initiated and completed
♦ US Technology 5 lakh sq. ft. building construction started
♦ New campus of Asian School of Business coming up in 16 acres of land made available from Technocity land. Estimated investment Rs.36 crores.
♦ Campus building of IIITMK started at estimated cost of Rs.8 crores
♦ The third IT Park in Kerala, Infopark, Koratty operations started in October 2009
♦ Infoparks in Cherthala and Ambalapuzha underway. SEZs obtained. Master-planning completed, detailed designing completed, tenders under award.
♦ Wipro campus with 9 lakh sq. ft. building completed
♦ L&T Thejomaya building inaugurated (3.5 lacs sq.ft.)
♦ Athulaya 5.5 lakh sq. ft building near completion in April 2010
♦ Major companies which started operation include: Arbitron, Bluelabs, Charter BPO, Starient Inc, Affiliated Computer Services, TCS, OPI Global, Wipro and Calpine Tech.
♦ MoU with Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to set up a Centre in Infopark. Likely to start by April 2010

Major highlights

IT exports grows at record levels – nearly two to three times national levels
♦ Growth during 2007-08: 70%
♦ Growth during 2008-09: 45%
♦ The trend has grown in 2009-2010 although figures not yet known
♦ Growth despite economic slowdown

Rent deferral: To help companies during economic slowdown, 50% rent deferral provided to companies working in Technopark and Infopark during 2009-2010

Number of IT Parks increased from 2 to 10: Land allotted, SEZ status obtained; master plan developed, detailed design etc completed, works tendered. The parks are

  • Technopark Phase III, Thiruvananthapuram: Nearly 70 acres of land acquired at estimated cost of Rs.29 crores. Sub-station for Rs.12 crores completed. Infrastructure development work in full swing. Canal embankment at a cost of Rs.7 crores, site development at estimated cost of Rs.6.2 crores and electrical works Rs.1.2 crores are progressing. Additional internal roadwork estimated to Rs.6 crores planned. Work for a new 10 lakhs sq. ft. building, estimated to cost nearly Rs.240 crores already started. Land allotment to IT companies and IT infrastructure developers through a transparent scheme underway. 
     
  • Technocity, Pallipuram, Thiruvananthapuram: Nearly 428 acres of land costing nearly Rs.282 crores acquired. Permission granted for the development of full-fledged campus of Asian School of Business in 16 acres of land. Estimated investment is Rs.36 crores. Construction work commenced. Approach road to Technocity work arranged through PWD at estimated cost of Rs.6 crores. Infrastructure estimated around Rs.350 crores being planned. Funding sought from JICA.
  • Technopark Kundra, Kollam: Nearly  40 acres of land taken possession. SEZ notification obtained. Distribution license for power obtained. Work amounting to Rs.65 crores going on. These include basic infrastructure development like internal roads, 110 KV substation and 11 KV compact sub station, overhead water tank and water distribution system, sewage treatment plant etc. Additionally, a working women hostel at estimated cost of Rs.3.3 crores is planned. Work for signature building of Rs.19 crores started.
  • Infopark Phase II, Kochi: Nearly 150 acres of land under acquisition at an estimated cost of Rs.170 crores. Out of this about 45 acres land already acquired. Master planning complete. Work being initiated for infrastructure development.
  • Infopark Cherthala, Allapuzha: Nearly 66 acres of land taken possession of. SEZ notification obtained. Basic infrastructure development started. Substation at estimated cost of Rs.15 crores, compound wall nearly completed at estimated cost of Rs.3 crores, sewage treatment plant under progress at estimated cost of Rs.1 crore, water treatment plant under progress, estimated cost Rs.2.2 crores, site development at estimated cost of Rs.5 crores started, signature IT building at estimated cost of Rs.40 crores being started. Also proposing to develop a working women hostel at estimated cost of Rs.6 crores.
  • Infopark Ambalapuzha, Allapuzha: Nearly 80 acres of land received from Revenue / Forest Department. Another 12 acres acquired. SEZ notification received for 33 acres of land. Basic infrastructure development started. Power line extension at estimated cost of Rs.1 crore started, water supply at estimated cost of Rs.6 crores under progress, land development for 8 acres nearly complete at estimated cost of Rs.4 crores, new IT Park building at estimated cost of Rs.20 crores under tender. Land development for access road being undertaken at estimated cost of Rs.10 crores.
  • Infopark Koratty, Thrissur: Nearly 30 acres of land transferred for new IT Park. The Infopark at Koratty commissioned in October 2009. Nearly 40,000 sq. ft. of space developed as Phase I.13 IT companies allotted space in Phase I. Demand for more space from IT companies. Second phase of 33,000 sq. ft. under development. Besides, work for new IT Building (third phase) of 2 lakh  sq. ft. already under planning.
  • Cyberpark, Kozhikode: Bringing IT development in Malabar area with the setting up of Cyberpark society. Cyberpark society has started functioning. A full time professional CEO has been appointed.
  • 25 acres of land already provided for the development of UL-Cyberpark, which is promoted by Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society. The said land has already been notified as IT SEZ. Master planning work is going on. Construction work likely to start early next financial year.
  • Another 43 acres of land is being acquired for the Government’s own Cyber park at an estimated cost of Rs.43 crores. The land acquisition is going on in full swing. About 8 acres already acquired. Land acquisition is likely to complete by May 2010. Basic infrastructure development like power, water, road etc. being planned at estimated cost Rs.20 crores. Signature IT building of 2 lakh sq. ft. being planned at estimated cost of Rs.50 crores.
  • Cyberpark, Kannur: About 26 acres of land taken possession of. SEZ notification also received. Estimates for basic infrastructure development (power, water and road already prepared). The work to be started soon. The first signature IT building also planned. Total estimated investment during 2010-2011 around Rs.13 crores for infrastructure and about Rs.8 crores for the IT building.
  • Cyberpark, Kasargode: Nearly 100 acres of land identified for transfer for IT development. The steps for transfer are being taken.
