Kerala’s largest IT project all set to takes off

Kochi: HDIL Cyber City, a project by Blue Star Realtors, a subsidiary of the Mumbai based construction major Housing Development and Infrastructure Ltd., at the Special Economic Zone at Kalamassery near Kochi will be launched on February 17, 2011 by the State Minister for Industries and Commerce, Shri Elamaram Kareem.

With 7 million sq.ft. of IT space spread over a total built-up area of 10 million sq.ft. and an investment of Rs.2,300 crores, the HDIL Cyber City will be the largest IT project in Kerala. The state-of-the-art IT park is expected to offer direct employment for 60,000 people and about 1,50,000 indirect jobs. The Cyber City is planned as an integrated township with residential apartments, schools, shopping malls, service apartments and infrastructure facilities for IT and ITeS companies.

The project is coming up on 70 acres purchased from HMT in 2005 through bidding. The Industries Minister had laid the foundation stone for the project in January 2008 but the project got embroiled in litigation over the sale of the land by HMT. Later the deal was approved by the courts.
