Summer Magic for Special Children by Insight

Tvm: Insight, an Information & Communication Technology (ICT) centre for the differently abled, under the aegis of Kerala State IT Mission and SPACE, is organising a summer camp ‘Magic’ for children with special needs. The aim of the camp is to help children acquire social skills and develop their communicative ability with the help of ICT tools.

The MAGIC (Music, Art, Games / Gardening, ICT activities, Creative sessions) camp is aimed at children between 5 and 15 years of age with mental health difficulties. The camp offers interactive as well as educative activities with ICT tools and creative sessions that include gardening, painting, crafts and music. A puppet show and storytelling session are also included as part of the camp.

Insight, financially backed by the IT Mission, does not charge money for its services and Summer Magic is also offered free. The week long Magic camp begins on April 25 at Insight’s centre for special children in Thiruvananthapuram. It concludes with a counselling session for parents on April 30. The sessions will be held from 9.30 am till 3.30 pm.

Insight, a project jointly initiated by IT Mission and and SPACE (Society for Promotion of Alternative Computing and Employment), is a government funded project working towards the empowerment of differently abled in Kerala through ICT and has two centres in Trivandrum, one for the visually challenged and another for special children.
