Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd. gets a revamped website


Tvm: The revised website of Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd. (VISL) was launched by the Kerala Chief Minister, Shri Oommen Chandy, on August16, 2011. The renewed website is a comprehensive website with details about VISL, Port Project, study reports, career opportunities and project status. Information about the Consultants and the Planning and Development works regarding the project are also available on the site.

The ‘Planning and Development’ page gives details about Site & Project Location, Land Requirement, Design Details, Utilities, Manpower and Operations & Maintenance of the proposed project. The ‘Global Search’ page gives detailed information about the various tenders available (RFP & RFQ) and the companies participating in these tenders.

The proposed Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport is an ambitious project taken up by Government of Kerala. The Port will come up at Vizhinjam, near Thiruvananthapuram, with a quay length of 2,000 meters in three phases. It will be designed to cater primarily for container transhipments besides multi-purpose and break bulk cargo.

The project is proposed to follow Landlord Port Model, where dredging, reclamation and basic infrastructure like construction of break-water and quay will be done by Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd. which is fully owned by Government of Kerala. Port Operation will be on PPP model. Terminal superstructure will be built by private operator who will also operate and maintain it for 30 years.

The function at CM’s chamber was attended by Minister of Excise and Ports, Shri K Babu; Manoj Joshi IAS, Secretary – Ports; A S Suresh Babu, MD & CEO, VISL and other officials.
