Tvm: The next time you want to travel long distance by a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus, don’t bother about checking out the bus timetable. Just send a SMS to KSRTC and you will get a list of 20 buses with their timings on that route. The m-Governance project and the first phase of Total Computerisation Programme of KSRTC were inaugurated by the State Minister for Transport, Shri V S Sivakumar today in Thiruvananthapuram.
Launching the service, the Minister said, “It’s an achievement to roll out this ambitious m-Governance project as part of the UDF Government’s 100 day programme. This service will go a long way to help people who travel by KSRTC”. He also inaugurated the ‘Infowheels’ bus which is a mobile computer lab for training KSRTC employees. The bus is equipped with latest computers and Internet connectivity.
KSRTC is using the m-Governance short code platform developed by the Kerala State IT Mission for the SMS service. Travellers will have to send the SMS to 537252 in the format, ‘KSRTC Start Depot Code End Depot Code’. This service is now available for selected Fast Passenger, Super Fast, Delux and AC services only.
Under the Total Computerisation Programme, all Depots and Workshops of KSRTC have been linked to the Central Office in Thiruvananthapuram. Keltron is the implementing agency for this project.
