Tvm: The new Development Centre of Oracle in Technopark, Trivandrum will be officially inaugurated by the State Industries & IT Minister, Shri P K Kunhalikutty on September 14, 2011. The Oracle Development Centre is located at the Leela Infopark building in the Technopark Campus. Earlier, Oracle had an informal start in Kerala in June, when they started their operations from the Park Centre in Technopark.
It was in April 2011 that the lease agreement was signed between Oracle India and the Leela Group in the presence of the then Kerala Chief Minister Shri V S Achuthanandan, to start their operations in Technopark. The lease agreement for the 36,000 sq.ft. (one floor) space at the Leela Infopark has been signed for a period of nine years. The agreement also features an option for Oracle to opt for two more additional floors within a year. While Oracle is starting with about 100 resources, the said space can seat about 350 – 400 people.
Oracle, the world’s leading business software and hardware systems company, is the first major US IT company to set shop in Kerala. Except for Infosys and TCS, Technopark does not have any big names and this move would surely give a huge boost to make Kerala as the fastest growing IT destination in the country. The Bangalore based ITC Infotech is considering setting up a centre here and is in talks with Technopark authorities. HCL Infosystems is also setting up shop in Technopark Phase III.
