Tvm: The eTendering System for the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Kerala was launched by the Minister for Rural Development & Registration, Shri K C Joseph in Thiruvananthapuram on December 14, 2011. The eSubmission Tender System of PMGSY eTendering enables the Tenderers to download the Tender Schedule free of cost and then submit the bids online through the PMGSY eTender portal.
The PMGSY eTender portal is maintained and updated by respective States Rural Roads Development Agency (SRRDA) Units in coordination with National Rural Roads Development Agency under the Union Ministry of Rural Development. The World Bank and ADB complaint system is designed, developed and hosted by National Informatics Centre (NIC) on a national basis and the system is now implemented in 21 States across India including Kerala.
Inaugurating the Kerala specific portal, the Minister said that the launch of the eTendering system related to the PMGSY roads in Kerala will bring in the much needed transparency and speed in the tender process. He also expressed the hope that the online process would make the departments involved to be more accountable with the increased visibility and transparency and would encourage more contactors to participate in the bidding process which would eventually bring down the cost.
The e-Tendering of Government contracts in Kerala was launched recently and in the first phase, the e-Tendering facility is being implemented in four departments starting with the Public Works Department (PWD) to be followed by Education, Transport and Police.
