Microsoft secures Bank of India with AD RMS

Kochi: Bank of India (BOI), a state-owned commercial bank and one of India’s largest PSU has partnered with Microsoft to commence deployment of Microsoft Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS), under the project BOI Info-Guard.  Microsoft AD RMS is an information protection technology that helps safeguard corporate digital information and enables safe and secure banking operations.

As this technology is being deployed, BOI will also adhere to the compliance requirements laid down by RBI Data Security Guidelines and ensure that its confidential and sensitive corporate information does not leak through unauthorized channels. Microsoft AD RMS is currently available for 100 users of BOI and will be extended to about 15,000 users in the next phase of deployment.

Microsoft AD RMS integrates deep into Microsoft Office solutions and provides the most productive and complete experience for BOI end users to protect sensitive company information. AD RMS also prevents sensitive information (financial reports, product specifications, customer data, and confidential e-mail messages) from intentional or accidental breaches.

Sameer Ratolikar, CISO & Head BCP, BOI said, “Completeness, Compatibility and Productivity gains were the key drivers for Bank of India to select Microsoft AD RMS. By being in-line with the RBI data security guidelines, it ensures safety and security of corporate data. It demonstrated deep and seamless integration into Microsoft Office solutions thereby, protecting information, which in turn boosts productivity while helping meet compliance”.

Srikanth Karnakota, Director – Server & Cloud Business, Microsoft India said “We are delighted to partner with Bank of India for deploying Microsoft AD RMS. The system enables organizations to safeguard sensitive information, persistent protection with flexible and customizable technology. Rights can be configured to allow a user to open, modify, print, or take other actions with the rights-managed information. It also allows safeguarding data when it is distributed outside the network. This solution helps protect corporate identities, credentials and information protection.”

Founded in 1975, Microsoft (NASDAQ ‘MSFT’) is the worldwide leader in software for personal and business computing. Microsoft Corporation (India) is a subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation, USA. It has had a presence in India since 1990 and currently has offices in nine cities including Kochi.
