Trivandrum: The capital city will play host to c0c0n 2012, the International Cyber Security and Policing Conference, on August 03 & 04. c0c0n is an annual event conducted as part of the International Information Security Day. The event is organised by Kerala Police in association with the Kerala State IT Mission, Information Security Research Association (ISRA) and Matriux Security Community.
c0c0n is aimed at providing a platform to discuss, showcase, educate, understand and spread awareness on the latest trends in information, cyber and hi-tech crimes. It also aims to provide a hand-shaking platform for various corporate, government organizations including the various investigation agencies, academia, research organizations and other industry leaders and players for better co-ordination in making the cyber world a better and safe place to be. It will also serve as a platform to devise strategies to prevent cyber crimes against women.
According to Manu Zacharia, one of the key organizers, “We are planning to have more than 30 sessions on two different tracks covering four security domains for which we are expecting participation from various countries and international speakers at different levels. The event is cleared and supported by the CERT-India, and will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Kerala”.
The major themes of this year’s conference are Innovations in Cyber Security, Digitalization for better service delivery, Digitalization as a force Multiplier, Cyber Safe Government, Tackling the latest Cyber Crimes and Ethical Hacking. Two workshops on Malware Analysis and Android Security will also be held at the event.
Dr. Frederick Wamala, Cyber Security Advisor to a host of national Governments, regulatory authorities, large private enterprises and United Nations (UN) agencies and Shashi Tharoor, MP are the key note speakers.
