Entrepreneurship key to Kerala, Government to provide support

Trivandrum: The State Government will consider providing suitable structure and process to create and develop entrepreneurship in Kerala, said V Somasundaram IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Kerala. He was addressing the Workshop on ‘Entrepreneur friendly Emerging Kerala’ organised by the TiE Kerala Chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) at Technopark on August 04, 2012.

In his address, K M Chandrashekar, Deputy Chairman of Kerala State  Planning Board  said there is a great deal of optimism in the Sate as compared to nineties. He called for the ‘industry to develop industry’ with the backup of the Government. He emphasized the need to meet the challenges of demographic changes in Kerala.

The Workshop discussed current entrepreneurial infrastructure in Kerala, access to funding, education and training besides sector specific issues of the state. In the different sessions, eminent panellists addressed critical issues of their chosen areas. It was felt that successful entrepreneurs and models should be showcased to motivate new generation. The story of how Kerala Tourism was effectively promoted through KTM in the last decade was specially mentioned in the context.

Wealth creation and profit making should be appreciated. Creating an entrepreneurial culture is very important to emerging Kerala. And the high HDI enjoyed by the State is going to be an asset for the future enterprises here. The present perception of Kerala has to be changed to a place for people to live, invest and holiday, speakers pointed out.

A brochure of TiEcon Kerala 2012, a conference of entrepreneurs, scheduled to be held in Kochi on October 25 & 26, 2012 was release by K M Chandrashekar. The workshop was attended by leading industrialists, entrepreneurs, senior officials from infrastructure and development agencies of the State government, financial institutions and prominent banks from the State.
