Trivandrum: As a follow up to the Emerging Kerala conclave and the entrepreneurship policy announced by the State Government, TiE Kerala, the State chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs, has announced their decision to mentor the start-up community in Kerala. A step in this direction will be TiEcon Kerala 2012 on October 25-26 at Kochi, the first of its kind entrepreneur summit to be held in Kerala.
Giving details about the forthcoming event at a press conference held in Thiruvananthapuram today, C Balagopal, Founder President of TiE Kerala & MD, Terumo Penpol said, “It will be the largest ever gathering of entrepreneurs in Kerala and a great opportunity for the start-up community here to interact with successful entrepreneurs and also learn from the mistakes of these successful people. Of late there has been a change in the mindset of youngsters here, from being job seekers to that of being job creators. We want to be part of that change and support that change.”
S R Nair, Past President of TiE Kerala & MD, Team Frontline said, “We are expecting about 1,000 delegates including NRIs and women entrepreneurs to participate in TiEcon. There will be four concurrent tracks that will cover more than 20 sessions. The focus will be on sectors that are considered green field today but hold immense potential for growth in the near future. The two day event will offer opportunity to participate in mentoring clinic by global mentors and angel investors apart from networking with reputed and successful global entrepreneurs.”
Kanwal Rekhi, Founder Chairman, TiE Global & Managing Partner, Inventus Capital Partners; Sramana Mitra, Internationally reputed mentor & Founder, 1M/1M, Indian Angel Network and Ashok Rao, Chairman, TiE Global are some of the key speakers. Chief Minister, Shri Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the conference. Sam Pitroda, Chairman, National Innovation Council will join through video conferencing.
The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), was founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley by a group of successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and senior professionals with roots in the Indus region. TiE’s mission is to foster entrepreneurship globally through mentoring, networking, and education.
