QBurst powered School Cricket in Toronto wins ICC Award

Trivandrum: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has presented a Toronto based School Cricket programme, powered by Crickees, a cricket hosting solution developed by the Technopark, Trivandrum based web and mobile services company, QBurst, with the Americas Best Junior Cricket Participation Award.

The tournament got the ICC Development Programme Award for the ‘Best Junior Participation Initiative’ for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Mayor’s School Cricket Tournament – CIBC Trophy. This initiative was launched in 2012 and had given the Toronto youth an opportunity to participate in their own tournament which saw more than 50 school teams take part in inaugural event. The award is a great way to recognize and celebrate some of the key achievements made by countries in the Americas region as the ICC strives towards its goal of making cricket a bigger, better and global game.

In his statement, Prathapan Sethumadhavan, CEO, QBurst said, “CIMA’s initiative to help young people develop sports and leadership skills through cricket has been well received by the Canadian and international cricket communities. The team at QBurst is delighted to hear the news, having hosted the Tournament online through Crickees, our tournament hosting platform”.

Ranil Mendis, one of the key organisers of the tournament said, “QBurst made a significant contribution to this success of this tournament through its Crickees site. I am delighted to hear of the ICC recognition for the inaugural CIMA Mayor’s School Cricket Tournament. The ICC recognition proves that CIMA members have identified the best cricket development strategy for Canada by supporting school cricketers in Toronto”.

The CIMA school cricket programme was also recognized by another international initiative, the Cities of Migration, which selects innovative community initiatives from different nations and showcases them to other Cities around the world.

A start-up founded by three individuals in 2004, QBurst has come a long way and now caters to a global clientèle through their centres in the USA, UK, Poland, UAE, Singapore, and Australia. The company has development centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Infopark, Kochi and Koratty.

The Crickees hosting platform helps to showcase cricket tournaments right from match schedules and live scorecards to preview and review of matches played. Crickees provides a dedicated website for hosting a tournament.
