KINFRA starts Phase II development of IT / ITES SEZ at Film & Video Park

Trivandrum: The Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) has started the second phase development of the IT / ITES Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at the KINFRA Film and Video Park located at Kazhakuttom, on the outskirts of the capital city.

Minister for Tourism, Cooperation & Devaswom, Shri Kadakampally Surendran laid the foundation stone for the second phase development at a function held earlier this week.

In his address, the Minister said the State government will give precedence to small scale industries in the State. “The State government aims at the development of the State and to increase employment opportunity for the people. Since this government came to power, the traditional sector industry has improved and it is planned to come out with a restructuring plan to revive the crisis-ridden public sector industry in the State.”

Trivandrum Corporation Mayor, V K Prashant; KINFRA Managing Director and KINFRA Film & Video Park Chairman, Dr. M Beena IAS; and KINFRA Film & Video Park Managing Director, Suraj Raveendran, were among those present on the occasion.

In the sprawling 75 acre KINFRA Film and Video Park, the central nod is for the second phase IT/ ITES Park in 25 acres. The foundation stone is laid for 2.3 lakh sq. ft. building space to house the IT/ITES Park. The basic infrastructure facility including electricity and water connection is ensured and with that land is allotted on lease to the upcoming IT and ITES companies in the Park. By now, KINFRA has set up 23 industrial parks across Kerala.

Currently, many film and video production units such as Prasad Productions, Vismaya Max studio complex, Revathy Kalamandir, the Academy of Magic Sciences and an animation school of international standards – the Shristi School of Art Design and Technology are functioning in the KINFRA Film and Video Park.

In the first phase of the IT/ITES Park in 1.9 sq. ft. built-in space, many IT and ITES firms are functioning such as Ernst & Young, Accel Transmatic, Owl Animation, Trishul Media, Raizen IT, Quinoid Business Solutions, Senahu Technology solutions and Kerala Start-up Mission.
