Trivandrum: Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) erstwhile IT@School Project is conducting Harithavidyalayam Educational Reality Show, aimed at showcasing the achievements of schools in the State in different areas.
The show also provides an opportunity for schools to highlight their innovativeness on a global platform. Made by KITE for the Educational Department, Harithavidyalam would be aired in IT@School VICTERS channel and Doordarshan.
Harithavidyalayam Educational Reality Show was the first of its kind in the country, which was successfully conducted in 2010, which was appreciated globally. The second part of the show is all set- to be aired from November onwards. All Govt and Aided Schools in the State can participate in the show. A total of 150 schools will compete in the 1st round after preliminary selections. The application procedure is completely online, in which schools have to submit either a 5-minute video or a presentation with maximum 20 slides, detailing their unique activities and achievements.
According to K Anvar Sadath, Vice Chairman & ED, KITE. “Schools can download the guidelines and application form for the show from the KITE website www.kite.kerala.gov.in. School authorities have to discuss and decide on their participation with the respective committees in schools, before they submit their applications online between 2nd & 16th October”.
The achievements of schools in different areas which encompass the all-round development of children would be evaluated in three phases. Peer reviews of Academic excellence, Academic planning and execution, outcomes etc would have to be recorded properly. In addition, as many as 40 parameters such as Monthly academic activities, academic monitoring, Pedagogical innovations, teacher trainings, best teaching practices, research activities, subject wise excellence, Class & PTA etc also have to be captured.
The school development plans have to be detailed in the second part while the physical infrastructure details have to be entered in the 3rd part. The questionnaire also evaluates the contribution of schools towards SchoolWiki, Hi-School Kuttikootam, Samagra & Sampoorna portals apart from Sanitation and Cleanliness, Organic farming and supporting activities. The Winner of Harithavidyalayam Educational Reality Show would get Rs.15 Lakhs, while the runners-up get Rs.10 Lakhs and Rs.5 Lakhs.
