KITE develops online application for teacher’s appointments and staff-fixation

Trivandrum: Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) has developed a web-based software, ‘Samanwaya’ which is an online system for approval of appointments of teachers of aided schools and staff fixation of all teachers under General Education Department. The new online web application would enable transparent and efficient approval process of appointment of teachers in aided schools, thereby eradicating corruption and time consumption.

Using Samanwaya, the Managers of Aided schools can submit the applications online for teacher appointments directly without approaching educational offices. The dashboard of the application would easily list out the details of applications submitted, approved, rejected and those which are put on hold. Samanwaya also features multiple level monitoring systems for authorities ranging from Deputy Directors up to Director of General Education with respect to all details of each application. The audit of files would also be conducted online now onwards.

Presently, the details of 14,593 schools, over 45 lakh students, 1.72 lakh teachers and 21,432 non-teaching staff are captured in the Sampoorna School Management software which was also developed by KITE. Till now the ‘staff fixation’ for teachers was based on the tedious manual mode of application which required printouts of hundreds of pages of the 6th Working Day details generated from the software. However this year onwards, this process can be undertaken with ease in an online mode through Samanwaya portal with the data available from Sampoorna software. Details such as excess or less number of posts, details of teachers shifted to teacher bank etc can be easily obtained through this portal.

In 2009, KITE (then IT@School project) had made the transfer of posting of teachers online, a process which was much complicated in the conventional manual mode.

K Anvar Sadath, Vice Chairman & ED, KITE said, “For the first time in the Country, the General Education Department of Kerala has implemented complete eGovernance in various processes ranging from textbook indenting, numerous school festivals and Melas, Scholarships etc”, The Samanwaya web application was also entirely developed by the technical team of KITE.

Update: Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan formally inaugurated the Samanwaya web application on 11 June 2019.
