Trivandrum: The Kerala Chapter of Project Management Institute (PMI) is organising its annual conference, ‘Waves 2013’ at Kovalam on June 08, 2013. The theme of the conference is ‘Project Management – a catalyst for success’.
Project Management Institute (PMI) is a not for profit organization promoting project management practices and sharing of best practices across the world. This is the third annual conference of the Kerala Chapter following the first successful conference held in Trivandrum in 2011 and the second in Kochi in 2012. This conference is aimed at providing an opportunity for all project management practitioners in and around Kerala to come together and get benefitted from the knowledge and experience of experts working in different sectors. As the Indian economy stands to grow multiple folds, efficient project managers are required to execute an ever growing number of complex projects successfully.
According to a release from PMI, the key objectives of this one day conference are:
1. Enable more middle level managers to learn and improve project management skills and deliver business value through effective project management
2. Delivery Excellence through cross industry best practices sharing
3. Understand how project management plays a role in social development
The conference will be inaugurated with an inaugural address by Dr. G Madhavan Nair, Former Chairman of ISRO & Secretary, Dept. of Space, Govt. of India followed by key note address by Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Union Minister of State for HRD, Govt. of India. This will be followed by sessions by an array of eminent business leaders and experts including Tessy Thomas, Project Director, Agni V Project, DRDO; Raj Kalady, MD, PMI India and Prof. Koshy Varghese, IIT Madras among others. There will be a panel discussion in the afternoon followed by award distribution for the best CSR project and the best project initiated by a Panchayat in Kerala.
In the run up to the conference, an Innovation Project contest and a Business Quiz are being organized for college students on June 07 at Technopark.
