Technopark celebrating its 20th anniversary hogged the IT news from Kerala last week. It was on July 28, 1990 that Technopark was registered as an autonomous society. The foundation stone for Technopark was laid on March 31, 1991 and the park commenced operations on July 28, 1994.
Pamba and Periyar were the first buildings to be constructed for IT companies after the Park Centre. Then came Nila, Technomall, Chandragiri, Gayathri, Bhavani and Thejaswini, in that order. The buildings in Technopark are named after the rivers in Kerala. Many companies like TCS, Tata Elxsi, IBS, Amstor and M2 have their own buildings.
Another event which caught the limelight was TechTop, the annual innovation contest for engineering students.
