BSNL launches 3G in Kerala

E-mail

Kozhikode/Kannur: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited launched its 3G network service in Kerala today. In the first phase, the service is available in Kozhikode and Kannur. BSNL plan to cover 21 cities in Kerala by the end of this month.

While M V Raghavan, MP, launched the services at Kozhikode, A P Abdullakutty, MLA, did the honours at Kannur.

3G allows simultaneous use of speech and advanced data services with unprecedented quality in voice call as well as a wide range of compelling data services. BSNL officials said that the 3G facility would be provided on existing mobile numbers and SIM card if the subscriber has a 3G handset. Subscribers can make video calls, access internet and watch live TV with a compatible handset.

As of now, only BSNL & MTNL are providing 3G services in India. BSNL plans to rollout 2.65 lakh 3G lines in Kerala. BSNL will invest Rs.650 crores in the State for its 3G project and expansion of the existing 2G network.

Check out the BSNL Kerala website for plan details.
