CM distributes CATFOSS certificates

Tvm: Chief Minister Shri V S Achuthanandan gave away the certificates to thirteen students who have successfully completed their course at the Kochi based Centre for Advanced Training in Free and Open Source Software (CATFOSS). The certificates were given at a brief function held in the CM’s conference hall at the Secretariat in Trivandrum on July 16, 2010. CATFOSS operates out of the ITeS Habitat maintained by the Kerala State IT Mission.

Visually challenged students receive IT certification

Tvm: Chief Minister Shri V S Achuthanandan gave away the certificates to 45 visually challenged trainees who have successfully completed the Indira Gandhi National Open University’s (IGNOU) course named ‘Computer Training for Visually Challenged Persons’ today at a function held in Trivandrum.  He also launched the fourth phase of INSIGHT activities.

Magazine Editor arrested for online defamatory article

Tvm: T P Nandakumar, Chief Editor of a popular Malayalam investigative and crime news fortnightly called Crime, was arrested on Saturday by the Cyber Police for publishing an offensive and defamatory article about a NRI businessman on its website. He was arrested on the basis of a complaint by an Abu Dhabi based businessman, Alexander.

Dial 1800-266-8001 for Cyber Crime helpline

Tvm: Avanzo, a Thrissur based Charitable Trust, has launched a toll free Cyber Crime helpline (1800-266-8001) and a Cyber Crime awareness website. The activities of the Trust were launched by V V Vinod, Secretary, Trivandrum Management Association at a function held in Trivandrum today. Posters for spreading awareness about Cyber Crimes among school children were also launched on the occasion.

Talks & negotiations still on with Tecom: CM

Tvm: Chief Minister Shri V S Achuthanandan today said that the Government is still negotiating with Tecom, the Dubai based promoters of SmartCity Project in Kochi and the option of an alternate partner would be thought of only as a last resort. The CM’s statement, made in the Legislative Assembly, comes a day after the Directors Board at Kochi.

Yet another inconclusive Board Meeting

Kochi: The Board of Directors meeting of the SmartCity Kochi project held today in Kochi turned out to be inconclusive yet again. However, the highlight of today’s meet was the absence of Minister S Sarma, who is also the Chairman of the SmartCity Kochi Board.

SmartCity Kochi Board meeting today

Kochi: The next Board of Directors meeting of the SmartCity Kochi project will be held today at the Ramada Hotel in Kochi. The last meeting of the Directors Board of SmartCity Kochi was held on March 29, 2010. Today’s meeting comes in the backdrop of the Chief Minister saying that the uncertainty of the project would be over within days. He said this yesterday while inaugurating the Atulya, the new building at Infopark.
