Tvm: Education Minister Shri M A Baby today launched the website of the Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala along with two other portals, Scholar and Gurusmarana, at a function held at Government Women’s College in Trivandrum.
The Department of Collegiate Education website gives out the details about the department and its activities. Established in 1957, the department has administrative authority over 189 Arts & Science Colleges, 21 Training Colleges, 11 Arabic Colleges, 3 Music Colleges, a Physical Education College, 15 College Hostels and 5 Zonal Offices.
Gurusmarana, an initiative by the Department of Higher Education is a web based open access archive of the contributions of reputed teachers, scholars and researchers and will showcase articles, lecture notes, research papers and books of renowned scholars. Contributions of over 200 such resources have already been archived.
Scholar is a one stop shop for all academic details related to scholars in Kerala. This website too hosts articles, class notes, research papers and books of scholars. Teachers can upload their notes and other relevant content on the portal and this can be downloaded by students for future use.
The Department of Collegiate Education website has been designed and developed by C-DiT while Scholar was developed by the National Informatics Centre, Kerala. Gurusmarana was done by a team led by Achuthsankar S Nair, Director, Centre of Bioinformatics, University of Kerala. Kuruvila John IAS, Principal Secretary – Higher Education and K Gopalakrishna Bhat IAS, Director of Collegiate Education were among those present on the occasion.
