Trivandrum: The capital city is all set to host c0c0n 2013, the International Cyber Security and Policing Conference on September 27 & 28, 2013. c0c0n, which was previously known as ‘Cyber Safe’, is an annual event conducted as part of the International Information Security Day.
Kerala Police is organising this event in association with the Kerala State IT Mission, Information Security Research Association (ISRA), Society for the Policing of Cyberspace (POLCYB) and CERT.In Kerala.
c0c0n 2013 is aimed at providing a platform to discuss and share new information and latest trends in cyber crimes, across the World. The basic theme of the conference is to build networking among law enforcement agencies around the world and also between private and public sectors in the area of cyber security, so as to build a Cyber safe world.
According to Manoj Abraham IPS, Chairman, Organizing Committee, c0c0n 2013, “This is not purely a Police conference. Cooperation and coordination with the private sector is essential if one has to tackle crime in the digital world. Hence we have representation from the police officers from all the States in India and Cyber Security experts from all around the Globe. Many DGP’s from States, ADGP Cyber Units, Senior Officers from NIA, CBI, Intelligence Bureau, RAW, NCRB, BPR&D, CERT-In, etc will be participating in the conference. Some of the Best Cyber Security Experts will be delivering lectures during the Conference.”
The themes of c0c0n 2013 are – Innovations in Cyber Security, Prevention – Detection of Cyber Crimes against Women, Digitization for better service delivery, Digitalization as a force Multiplier, Cyber Safe Government, Tackling the latest Cyber Crimes and Ethical Hacking. The Event will run in two parallel streams. Track one will be the Non Technical Track and Track two will be a purely Technical Track.
Among the key speakers are Nehchal Sandhu, Deputy National Security Advisor, GoI and Bessie Pang, Executive Director of POLYCB who will deliver the keynote on Private Public participation in Cyber Security.
Recently, Kerala Police had won the ‘Asia-Pacific Information Security Leadership Achievements’ (ISLA) Award 2013 for organizing c0c0n 2012. The award will be presented to the State Police Chief, K S Balasubramanian IPS, at the event.
This is the fourth edition of the event. The last edition was also held in Thiruvananthapuram and the previous editions were held in Kochi.
