Trivandrum: Keltron-ITAC, a GPS enabled vehicle tracking and fleet transport management solution launched recently by the Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation (Keltron), has obtained the AIS004 certification from the Automobile Research Association of India (ARAI) in Pune.
The AIS004 certification makes Keltron-ITAC (Intelligent Tracking & Communication) the first PSU-made GPS product to get ARAI type-approval. Keltron-ITAC is now certified as meeting all Government norms and standards for safe use in automobiles by manufacturers and the secondary market.
Keltron, an undertaking fully owned by the Government of Kerala, has set up an assembly plant for GPS devices at its Equipment Complex in Thiruvananthapuram. It also offers 24×7 monitoring of vehicles and generating of alerts and reports on real-time basis from its state-of-the-art Control Centre. Data that can be acquired include vehicle location, speed, fuel level, SMS facility, surveillance integration, accident detection, over-speeding and panic alerts, and other on-demand events.
The manned monitoring facility has an Always-On video wall to visually track vehicles needing attention. It is also equipped with secure and dedicated hosting to handle thousands of vehicles on the move at a time and has the ability to connect to various Emergency services through a dedicated optical network.
Keltron-ITAC today serves over 2,000 fleets in Bangalore, largely in the Corporate segment, providing safe Transport for employees. ‘Women Safe’ vehicles have also been introduced, with panic trigger, two-way voice and video surveillance options. Transport companies and taxi operators are also using Keltron-ITAC for keeping tab on routes, distance, occupancy, speed and managing their operations efficiently.
Keltron is also working with various schools across Kerala and other States to keep student travel safe and secure by providing appropriate alerts to parents about vehicle arrival, delay, student boarding and leaving and alerts to school authorities on rash driving, route deviation and other areas of concern.
Keltron has entered into strategic partnerships with several transport organizations to adopt Keltron-ITAC as an approved Logistics solutions technology. The company is also associated with District Revenue authorities and PWD in a few districts in Karnataka, where sand mining passes are issued only to vehicles fitted with Keltron-ITAC or similar empanelled devices. Several Government departments and undertakings in Kerala have also been identified for adopting Keltron-ITAC solutions.
