Kochi to host Mobile for Good Awards 2014 road show on Aug 06


Kochi: A road show of the 4th edition of Mobile for Good Awards 2014 will be held in Kochi on August 06, 2014. The awards, an initiative of the Vodafone Foundation, recognise and support emerging talent and innovative mobile solutions from NGOs / NFPs that facilitate community empowerment and inclusive growth.

The road show to be held at Vivanta by Taj – Malabar aims to create awareness about the recognition & funding opportunities and encourage maximum participation from NGOs / NFPs in the city.

The Mobile for Good (M4G) Awards 2014 will select five best-practice NGOs / NFPs for providing mobile application solutions in five critical areas of Governance, Health, Education, Agriculture & Environment and Women Empowerment & Inclusive Development.

Adding another milestone to the M4G Awards this year, the Special Awards category have been introduced that will recognise winning ideas or concepts using mobile solutions in the defined focus areas.

Similar to the last three years, the M4G Awards 2014 will provide funding and mentorship to winning NGOs / NFPs. This year, the total funding grant has been increased to Rs. 60 lakhs; providing five winning NGOs/ NFPs access to crucial funding of Rs. 12 lakhs each, over one year, through the Main Category Awards. In addition, the Main Category Awardees will receive structured mentoring, monitoring and impact evaluation support from credible institutions, incubators, etc. to upscale and build greater capacity of their projects.

Introduced in 2011, under the framework of the mBillionth Award, founded by the Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF), the M4G Awards have supported 13 social organisations using mobile technology in the four areas of m-Health, m-Education, m-Governance & m-Business inclusion through crucial funding and mentorship to build capacity and further outreach over a period of two years.

The M4G Awards 2014 is led by the Vodafone Foundation; supported by Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) as Implementation Partners; Grant Thornton India LLP as Knowledge Partners and NextGen as Mentorship Partners.
