Kochi to host c0c0n 2014 Cyber Security & Policing conference


Trivandrum: The seventh edition of the International Cyber Security and Policing Conference – c0c0n 2014 will be held in Kochi on August 22 & 23, 2014. This is an annual event conducted as part of the International Information Security Day.

The Kerala Police is conducting this programme in association with Kerala State IT Mission, Information Security Research Association (ISRA), Society for the Policing of Cyberspace (POLCYB) and CERT.In Kerala. c0c0n 2014 is aimed at providing a platform to discuss and share new information and latest trends in cyber crimes across the World. The conference this year is with a special theme of tackling crimes with special reference to cyber crimes against women.

According to Manoj Abraham IPS, Head of the c0c0n Organizing Committee, “The c0c0n conference is not purely a Police conference. It is a mega event in which the Cyber Security experts from all around the globe will take part. Also we have representation from the Police Officers from all the States in India, Senior Officers from NIA, CBI, Intelligence Bureau, RAW, NCRB, BPR&D, CERT-In, etc. We sincerely hope that this path breaking endeavour is a precursor to a large revolution in the society’s war against cyber crimes and to ensure better and foolproof security for our Digital resources.”

c0c0n 2014 will be formally inaugurated by the Minister for Home & Vigilance, Shri Ramesh Chennithala. Former President of India, Shri A P J Abdul Kalam will deliver the keynote address. Chief Minister, Shri Oommen Chandy will be the Chief Guest for the valedictory ceremony.

c0c0n conference serves as a premier international forum to highlight the importance of empowering citizens, business and government to improve their cyber security preparedness.

The conference is split into two tracks, Track 1 dedicated for Law Enforcements, Cyber Governance, Digital Forensics and investigative aspects of Cyber Space with this year’s major themes being Digital strategies for prevention and detection of crimes against women, Cyber Terror, Counter Terror in the Cyber World, and Free Software for Cyber Crime Investigation. Track 2 concentrates on the Technical, research and management aspects of Information & Cyber Security and Critical Information National Infrastructure.

The pre conference workshops will be on Cryptography Essentials for Pen-Testers, Learning Pentesting for Android, ARM Android Xploitation, WordPress Security Syllabus, and Browser Fuzzing.
