Trivandrum: As a part of the ‘Digital Kerala’ initiative, the Kerala State IT Mission (KSITM) has taken steps for selecting the vendor for Unique Mobile application and Mobile governance platform services. The tender is to select the agency for implementing a state-of-the-art mobile governance (m-Governance) service in Kerala.
KSITM plans to roll out this unique and single interface mobile cross-platform application to deliver variety of services from various departments to the general public through Mobile App complemented by SMS, IVR and USSD channels so that users with or without smartphones can avail the e-governance services through mobile phone. Any citizen with a mobile phone can avail the service at their fingertips.
In order to avoid duplication of services, all the m-governance projects by Departments and Public Sector Undertakings will be using this common app for the delivery of their services. Once the project is launched, various government department services will be accessible through mobile phones, on a 24×7 basis, rather than the users having to visit government.
The app will be a multi-platform application compatible with Android, iOS, Windows and Blackberry. The proposed application is an intuitive one with simple interface and navigation allowing the user to easily avail the service.
As there is single application that will act as a single interface to all online services provided by Govt of Kerala, common public doesn’t need to download apps from various departments / services. This will help in reducing the memory and processor burden on the smartphone by eliminating multiple apps for various government services.
The existing services of various departments including Certificate Services, Information Services, Payment services for utilities (viz. KSEB, Kerala Water Authority, LSGD & IKM, KSRTC, Kerala Police, Motor Vehicles Department and any others) will be made available in the mobile app as well as SMS, IVR and USSD platform.
Apart from government services, common services like mobile recharge, IRCTC ticket booking, Income TAX information and payments, Passport services, POSTAL, Foreigners Registration (FRRO) etc to be included in the common app. Mobile Governance project will make available services like bill payments, traffic alerts, tax payments and other utility services through the mobile phone.
