Tvm: The third edition of the Kerala Bird Race 2009 will be held on 15th November 2009 at three locations – Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikkode. WWF-India Kerala State Office and Warblers & Waders are jointly conducting the Bird race.
The objective of the Bird Race is primarily to promote and popularise bird watching among the general public. It’s a single day activity in which anyone can participate with a goal of creating public support for nature conservation. Apart from popularising bird watching, the Bird race would also help gather information on the common birds, as most of the birding would be done in and around the human habitations, towns, college campuses, wetlands, etc.
The participants in teams can go to any locality for bird watching in and around Thiruvananthapuram on the day and get back to the venue by 5.30 – 6PM for the valedictory function, which would be followed by dinner. The team(s) that record maximum number of birds would be given prize(s).
Those who like to participate are requested to register their names with Mr. A.K. Sivakumar, Education Officer of WWF-India, Kerala State Office by E Mail – [email protected] com / [email protected] .net Ph: 0471-2302265/ 094473 86978.
