New York: KITA (Kerala IT Alliance), the network of IT professionals from Kerala in the US organised a seminar on Saturday to explore the huge opportunities in US government’s IT projects.
A large number of IT professionals interested in career opportunities with the US government and entrepreneurs who wish to sell to US government attended the meet held at the ‘Taste of Cochin’ in New York.
The seminar was organised in the backdrop of the Federal, state and local governments spending over $100 billion annually on IT products and services. Government IT contracting is a huge opportunity and lot of growth is expected to come from accelerated spending by the Veteran’s Administration, Homeland Security and the Health and Human Services Department, which operates the largest civilian IT budget. A representative from the government, and a vendor provided insights into government IT spending at federal, state, and city levels. The participants got to hear from top executives about what it takes to succeed in this growing field where the Federal Government and Government Contractors are looking for talented people and reliable resources. An introduction to IT Federal Spending and Federal CIO Vivek Kundra’s new initiatives was also discussed. Suresh U Kumar, President & CEO, NexAge Technologies; Sunil Kumar, CEO, ASSYST; Rahul Puri, Chief Software Architect, HHS, NYC; Daniel Mohan, CEO IDSi International and Vinson Palathingal, President & CEO, Amaram Technology Corp were on the panel discussion.
KITA was formed in 2007 by Malayali immigrants – entrepreneurs, business and technology leaders and academia, who have been in the forefront of the IT revolution in USA.
