Tvm: The 9th State School IT Mela got off to a rousing start today morning at the Park Centre in Technopark. About 200 students from all over Kerala are attending in this fest and competing in various IT competitions.
Talking to Kerala IT News, Mr. Anvar Sadath, ED, [email protected] Project said, “This festival is more of a camp for these children than a competitive event. Most of them are seeing Technopark for the first time and they would get a chance to see the IT industry at a close range. They will also be interacting with the techies in Technopark.
A joint venture of [email protected] Project of General Education Department, Govt. of Kerala and Technopark, the IT Mela is witnessing competition by the first and second place winners of the revenue district-wise IT fests held in all the 14 districts. As in the previous years, all the competitions are based on free software.
The mela was inaugurated today by the State Minister for Education, Shri M A Baby and Ms. Cecilia Barbieri, UNESCO’s Education Program Specialist for South Asia delivered the key address. The recently announced [email protected] awards were also presented by the Education Minister during the inaugural function.
The fest kicked off with the competition on IT Project presentation followed by the Digital Painting competition and the Multimedia presentation competition. Dr. B Ekbal, Former VC, Kerala University took a seminar on ‘Information Communication Technology & Society’ while Mr. K D Shybu, Head- Operations, Vismaya Max Animation Studio took a class on ‘Making Animations’.
Tomorrow’s events are the Webpage designing competition followed by the competition on Malayalam Computing and the IT Quiz. Dr. Achuthsankar S Nair, Hon. Director, Bio-Informatics Dept., Kerala University will a talk on ‘Oh God! Please do not show me a way’, for the budding talents.
Dr. Ajay Kumar IAS, Principal Secretary (IT), Mr. James Varghese IAS, Secretary (General Education) and Mr. Mervin Alexander, CEO, Technopark are expected to attend the valedictory function.
