Kozhikode: The land acquisition for the proposed Cyberpark in Kozhikode has begun. Over 4 acres has been registered through negotiated purchase option giving Rs. 1 Lakh for land with at least 6 ft road access and Rs. 85,000 for those without road access.
Kozhikode District Collector P B Salim handed over the cheques to the first batch of people whose land was acquired.
Binu Pazhoor, CEO, Cyberpark has said in a release that the land acquisition is expected to be completed by March after which SEZ status will be gained for the park. Government has taken considerable care to see that minimum people are displaced on account of the land acquisition. Only 17 families will have to move out of their holdings. The masterplan for Cyberpark will be released shortly.
The Cyberpark at Kozhikode is planned in the lines of Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram and Infopark in Kochi to build, operate and manage IT parks for the promotion and development of investment in IT and ITES industries in Malabar region. Cyberpark has been registered under the Societies Act 1860. Cyberpark is setting up the IT park at Kozhikode in a hub and spoke model with spokes at the SEZs approved land at Eramom in Kannur (27 acres) and Cheemeni in Kasargode (100 acres). Cyberpark hopes to start the infrastructure works at both these places in early 2010.
