Tvm: Chief Minister Shri V S Achuthanandan launched the website of Kerala Land Bank today at a function. Inaugurating the Land Bank, the Chief Minister said that the government would rein in the land mafia in the state and would effectively curb all encroachments.
The Land Bank is being set up to protect government owned land from illegal encroachments and to facilitate land availability for future development projects coming up in the State. The Land Bank would be able to support the development of the State in the next 25 years.
Speaking at the function, Revenue Minister, Shri K P Rajendran said that the Revenue department would organise Pattayamela in all 63 taluks in April with the sole aim of providing land for all landless people in the State. The Land Bank would help the Government in identifying land for distribution among the landless people. The Kerala Budget of 2008 – 09 had allotted Rs.5 crores for Kerala Land Bank.
Civil Supplies Minister, Shri C Divakaran and Law Minister Shri M Vijayakumar were among those present.
