Tvm: A Cyber Crime Awareness Campaign was launched by the Department of Education, Kerala University in association with the Kerala State IT Mission in Trivandrum on March 8, 2010.
The campaign was inaugurated by Smt. Neela Gangadharan IAS, Chief Secretary in the presence of Dr.Ajay Kumar IAS, Principal Secretary IT, M R Ajithkumar IPS, City Police Commissioner, Dr. Rathan Kelkar IAS, Director, KSITM and Dr. Theresa Susan A, HoD & Director, Centre for Educational Technology of Department of Education.
Inaugurating the programme, Smt. Neela Gangadharan IAS, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Kerala, spoke about the need for greater cyber awareness and called upon on all to disseminate the knowledge gained, from the day’s session, amongst their friends and family members. The Chief Secretary also asked the participants to make best use of the booklet in Malayalam titled ‘Vivara Sankhedhika Vidyayude Upayogam – Surakshathayode, Bhadrathayode’, which was distributed to all present.
Dr.Ajay Kumar IAS, Principal Secretary IT, highlighted the need for increased awareness in the changing context of heightening use of the cyber space by terrorists while M R Ajithkumar IPS, City Police Commissioner of Police described instances of women who fall prey to cyber crimes. Dr. Rathan Kelkar IAS, Director, KSITM talked about the need to be sensitized to cyber crimes.
Over 150 participants, including women students of the Department of Education participated in the programme which included a workshop on ‘Cyber Crimes – Issues and Challenges’.
