BBC Sound System: March 21


Tvm: BBC Sound System, a group of French-Senegalese rappers will perform a blend of African melodies, raga, hip hop, soul and salsa rhythms in Trivandrum on March 21, 2010. It is perhaps for the first time that this genre of exotic music is being performed live here.

BBC Sound System was created by three French-Senegalese rappers Kadou, Mansour and Mao, based in Paris. According to a release, the Band is a symbol of the multi-culturalism and multi-lingualism and their musical syllables not only convey the worldwide exoticism but are infused to life with the dreams that they carry from Senegal. Their music stand out as it is influenced by a wide range of musical genres. They have imbibed the styles of rap, reggae, salsa, soul, and African tones into their music thus making it unique. They use Wolof ,Fula, Mandinka , French and English in their lyrics. Their music is about the present-day youngsters, love, friendship and unity of people.

Entry is free to this event at Nishagandhi which starts at 6.30pm. Alliance Française de Trivandrum is organizing this in association with the Embassy of France in India.
