Tvm: Goethe-Zentrum Trivandrum is organizing a Jazz Concert by a leading German Jazz artist, Wolfgang Haffner, on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Tagore Theatre. This performance is part of his ‘Round Silence’ 2009-2010 tour of Asia and Europe.
Wolfgang Haffner has worked with numerous musicians from all over the world during the last two and a half decades. Haffner has played himself to the front rows of the international music scene as a percussionist and drummer. His discography as drummer includes more than 400 records though he gained recognition as a bandleader and composer as well.
For the first time in 2007 Wolfgang Haffner was on tour in Germany with his trio ‘Acoustic Shapes’. Ever since, this trio is playing sold out concerts all over Europe and in June 2009 Haffner received the German Jazz Award for his Album ‘Shapes’. Being in the excellent company of the Swedish bassist Lars Danielsson and German pianist Hubert Nuss, Haffner had various star guests like Kim Sanders, Chuck Loeb, Dominic Miller or Nils Landgren refining the album whose eleven songs were composed by Haffner himself.
Goethe-Zentrum Trivandrum is the official German language and cultural centre working under the auspices of the world-wide organization Goethe-Institute, which is also called Max Mueller Bhavan in India. Goethe-Zentrum promotes German language and culture and works towards bringing Germany and Kerala closer in terms of academic, cultural and business relations.
