Big response to Google User Group launch event

Tvm: Google Technology users in Kerala seem to have lapped up the idea of an exclusive user group here. The launch event of Kerala Google Technology Users Group is scheduled for April 10, 2010.

Talking to Kerala IT News from Bangalore, Sreejumon KP, the founder of the Kerala GTUG said, “We were expecting a maximum participation of 30 – 40 techies on a weekend but now the response has been so tremendous that we are forced to increase the number of seats from 150 to 200 and we are still getting requests.” UST Global has given their Zenith Hall for the event. The venue can seat up to 200 people but the space constraint means restricting further participants.

The agenda for the launch event has been finalised.

09:30 – 10.00 – Registration Confirmation
10:00 – 10:30 – Kerala GTUG Introduction & Launch
10:30 – 11:15 – How Google Changed the Software Development Landscape
11:30 – 12:30 – Chrome Extension
12:30 – 01:30 – Lunch Break
01:30 – 02:00 – Google Tips & Tricks
02:00 – 02:45 – Google Tools for Web Developers
02:45 – 03:00 – Closing (Feedback & Goodies)

Meanwhile IIITM-K has come forward to provide the video streaming facility as they want to promote such a highly technical user group. KelNet Communications, the first ISP based in Technopark is exploring the possibility of providing net connectivity for the event, subject to technical feasibility. GTUGs are usually supported by Google and there are 129 groups all over the world.

While most techies here are looking forward to the event on Saturday, many are disappointed that the Kerala Adobe Users Group meet is also happening the same day at Kochi.
